Terms of use

ASTAR provides its online services, including ASTAR-managed spaces on third-party platforms such as the ASTAR Messenger Bot, on the following terms. By continuing to access ASTAR, you agree to be bound by the terms outlined below and any additional terms outlined within the specific service you access. Check this page regularly so you are aware of any updates to the terms. If you do not agree with any of the below terms, as updated or amended, please de-register your interest with ASTAR.

Contributing Content

You grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish and communicate to the public any material you submit to us in any format, including without limitation print and electronic format. You also agree that we may permit other parties to publish and communicate to the public any material you submit to us in any format.

You warrant that any material you submit is your own original work and that you own the copyright and any other relevant rights. If you would like to tell us about material that isn’t your copyright and which we may want to use, please tell us who owns it so we can ask permission to republish.

You warrant that the material you submit is not obscene, offensive or otherwise illegal. You also agree not to submit material that is deliberately intended to upset other users.

You will take reasonable steps to ensure that any material you submit is not defamatory of any person. If you suspect that material may be defamatory (or if you are not sure), you must tell us at the time you submit the material to us.

You must act honestly and in good faith in your dealings with us and (if requested) you must provide us with reasonable assistance to settle, defend or investigate any third-party claims arising as a result of our publication of material you submit to us.

You also confirm you have, where appropriate, sought the consent of the parent or guardian of any person under the age of 18 who is featured in Your Content.

Please ensure you keep your own copies of Your Content as ASTAR may not archive, store or back-up Your Content nor continue to make Your Content accessible online.

We reserve the right to remove your access to individual services completely if we believe you are abusing the services in any way.

Online Communities

While we’re all about that full-throated debate and diversity of opinions, ASTAR expects community members to treat each other with respect and courtesy. These standards apply to interaction within all ASTAR Online Services including official ASTAR accounts established on third-party social media sites.

You understand and agree ASTAR has ultimate editorial control over all its online services. ASTAR may edit, remove or exercise its discretion not to publish your contribution for legal, editorial or operational reasons.

If you do not comply with these reasonable guidelines, ASTAR may at any time block your account or contributions.

When accessing or participating in an ASTAR-managed space on a third-party platform, such as channels, pages or feeds hosted on an external site, you agree to comply with the terms and conditions specified by that third-party platform.

ASTAR recommends you make sure you understand the privacy settings for each platform with which you engage and choose appropriate options to protect your personal details and content shared.

If you have concerns about inappropriate content on an ASTAR Online Service, you can alert the moderator of that space who may take any action they deem appropriate.

We accept no liability in respect of any material submitted by users, and we are not responsible for its content and accuracy. You acknowledge that we are not responsible for, and accept no liability in relation to, any other users’ use of, access to or conduct in connection with ASTAR in any circumstance.

ASTAR does not endorse the views or material contained in the contributions of any person, including members of the public or third-party sites. ASTAR is not responsible for the content, availability or performance of external sites linked to or hosting ASTAR Online Services.
