It is extremely important to love yourself for who you are, and to realise that we are all not perfect.
Loving yourself means you will start feeling more comfortable with who you are and who you’ve become. It also means you will feel more confident with yourself. Here are some really easy ways to increase the love you have for yourself.
1. Spend some time alone and give yourself a break
Take time out of your week or day to learn more about who you are or who you would like to become. Spending time alone will allow you to gain more information about yourself, and this is a critical step for self- love. Spend time going for a walk alone, reading a book or doing an activity that you’ve always wanted to do.
2. Shift your focus
“What is more important? Being beautiful on the outside, or the kind of person you are becoming on the inside?”
Focus working on who you want to be on the inside. Everyone has a pure and unique heart. However, some people don’t show it because they have a ‘mask’ on, seeking to show people that they’re tough. Learn who you are on the inside and love that person.
3. Do something good for someone else
Doing something good for someone will bring happiness to their lives and that will result in you feeling happy. Doing a selfless act will make you realise that you have an impact on the lives of others. This will definitely make you happier and you may want to keep on doing selfless acts!
4. Be kind to yourself
“Why do you put your self-esteem in the hands of complete strangers?”
Don’t push yourself too hard and don’t judge yourself. Learn to accept who you are, and you will never change for the worse no matter the influence. I know through my experience that I tend to judge myself and put myself down due to people’s comments. I want to state clearly – do not judge yourself because of what others say! The only person that truly knows you is YOU. Be kind to yourself.
5. Be grateful
“When you’re grateful for the things you have, no matter how small they may be, you will see those things instantly increase” – Rhonda Byrne
Once you realise all the things you are grateful for in your life, you will start to love yourself more. In addition, appreciate who and what you have in your life. People leave and things disappear so make sure you appreciate what you have.
