I know we occasionally employ a bit of hyperbole here at A•STAR, but it has to be said: our Universe is completely and utterly stupendous.
I mean, of course we all know that it’s stupendous. If nothing else, we know that it’s just bloody enormous, with the edge of the observable universe some 46 billion light years from Earth. But sometimes we need a little reminding, you know?
When in Moree a couple of months ago, we also drove down to Coonabarabran and the Siding Spring Observatory. Thanks to the generosity and patience of Senior Operations Officer Peter Verwayen, we were given a guided tour of the facility.
I’m not going to spoil it for you, but the whole experience was awe-inspiring.
Special thanks to Dr Angel Lopez-Sanchez for the amazing time-lapse videos. His homepage, along with links to more videos and photographs, can be found here.
