August 25, 2017 Revenge porn is a crime now

Well, it is in NSW anyway…

There used to be a time when anyone you sent nudes to could put them up online once they didn’t like you anymore – like if you broke up or they got hacked or they were just the kind of arsehole who abuses people’s trust.

But as of this morning, the NSW Government has announced that sharing or posting intimate pictures of someone without their permission can mean a fine of up to $11,000 – and you could also go to jail for three years.

That doesn’t mean you should be less careful sending those cheeky Snapchats, though. Even if the jerk in question has to pay a fine for distributing them, your photos could be floating out there online forever and ever.

And remember: if someone’s nice enough to send you nude photos, don’t be the worst. Keep them to yourself instead of showing your mates.
