“Do they give us popcorn?”
Last night we were all invited to watch a movie on the big screen. An inflatable cinema set-up was… set up in the Quad at Sydney Uni, up against the fancy and (stolen piece of Hogwarts) Great Hall, to screen Zach’s Ceremony.
As we entered the Quad, we were greeted by a rainbow of beanbags on the soft grass. Obviously no one ran and jumped on massive piles of them, because that would be very dangerous…
Anyway, as the sun went down, A•STAR grabbed a comfy silver number with the Sass Squad: a mix of self-described nobility and trashcans who were also willing to fetch us ice-creams before the movie started.
[I promised them we’d run this photo]
Along with that aforementioned explosion of ice creams and bean bags, the night was all about the film itself. Here’s the trailer to give you some idea of what we experienced together.
After the screening, cast members Alec Doomadgee and Zachariah Doomadgee did a Q and A with us about the production of the film. It’s pretty amazing to document a young boy becoming a man over 10 years. Great to have them with us, what legends.
Amongst a huge week, this was another of those special highlights. Something we’ve never done before at the WMBB Summer Program. The whole Sydney University Quad to ourselves under the stars. Amazing.
