November 25, 2016 Artist turns vintage Apple computers into pots for exotic plants

‘Disconnect and think nature!’ proclaims artist Christophe Guinet, aka Mr. Plant, in regards to his latest botanical art series. ‘Plant Your Mac’ seeks to denounce our exceedingly tech-connected society by integrating elements from the nature directly into some of the world’s most recognized devices — Apple products.

Mr. Plant has converted a series of Macintosh computer models —  mostly ‘vintage’ units from the 1990s — into bespoke terrariums custom designed for different plant species.

These computers — emblems of the early technology age — have been re-imagined as pots and physically adapted for the particular plant it hosts. The ‘Plant Your Mac!’ project invites viewers to ‘disconnect’ from the tech-obsessed world and consider the integration of nature in our lives.
